Basketball

Much to Rebecca's dismay (not always but many times I'm sure) basketball has taken over our lives lately. Namely our ward basketball team (which I am a member), a BYU intramural basketball team (which I am the captain of), and of course BYU's very own mens basketball team. Between these three it seems we are always doing something with basketball, which I don't mind. The only problem is it occasionally makes it difficult for me to finish the homework produced from a 17 credit hour semester which I am taking. Somehow Rebecca and I have managed to continue our lives, with her teaching and me going to school while working part time, and fit in Basketball. Our ward team has done alright. We might even have a winning record if we count the forfeits. My intramural team has done great so far. We have played two games and have won each by at least 15 points. BYU's team has done great so far as well. This last Saturday was the BYU vs Utah basketball game at the Marriott Center. Some people started camping outside the Marriott Center on Tuesday. Rebecca and I, the conservative folks we are, showed up on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. game. It was packed and loud, but a good game in which BYU won. Here are some sights and sounds:

Yesterday

Although I didn't do much reflecting on the reason why we have the Holiday, I was grateful that I'm a teacher and that Taber is a student and that we had the luxury of of not going to school. So, Thank You Martin Luther King, Jr.

I've been trying to be nice to myself and resting whenever possible so that I can get my energy level back up to where a normal 25 year olds should be. It's not as nice as it sounds. In fact, it's a little hard to do especially when I don't look ill and sometimes don't even feel half bad, but when it hits me, it hits me. And it hits me hard. Fatigue. It's really no fun.

Needless to say, I opted out of the snowshoeing experience that took place yesterday. I watched Shane and a rather bad BBC miniseries. I won't even mention the name because its not worth watching. Later that evening Taber and I had a "Chuck" marathon. It's a tv series someone suggested to Taber. It's actually quite entertaining. We then read more of the "Lighting Thief" and went to bed by 10:30. I little later than usual, but I hadn't realy done anything that strenuous all day.

However, Taber, Ray, Jared, Jessica and Bender enjoyed a lengthy Hike and Taber was drifting by the time 10:30 rolled around. Here are some of the wonders they discovered on their hike. I should've taken a picture of Shane and I together - On second thought, no, I was having a bad hair day.

Our Christmas Tree and decorations!

Gingerbread Houses!

We've decided to get together on Monday's for Family Home Evening with a few couples from the ward. The Gunnells on the left were actually married the day before Taber and I, and had the same photographer. Small world. The Boones on the right were married last January and they had the same photographer has us (just kidding). Both couples are rather entertaining and we enjoy there company. If you look closely you can see Taber.
Lindsay was very proud of their little dog kennel. She and Spencer have a dog, a couple of rabbits, a goat, and I wouldn't be surprised to find a cows living in their back yard. They both grew up in the Provo and Orem area.

Here is the back shot of our houses. Taber and I made the one on the right.

Our house is now the one on the left. I think they all turned out rather nicely. Oh! By the way, that's a Raindeer in the Boone's front yard, not a rabbit.

Overall, we had an enjoyable time inspite the fact that I had a sugar headache by the end of the night.

Winter

For anybody who has been living in the west to northwest of the United States the last two weeks, already know all too well how much it has felt like winter. Here in Provo over the last two weeks we got about eight inches of snow total and the temperature never got above about 25 degrees. It got so cold for me in the mornings that as I walked to class my face felt like it was going to fall off if I didn't warm it up soon. The past several days have warmed up enough to where we are reaching temperatures above freezing. So now the snow is slowly melting some during the days. The silver lining in all of this is that it was perfect conditions to do donuts in my truck! Here are some pictures we took:

Thanksgiving Break

Well, I'll be honest. I started this post a week ago and wrote everything we did over Thanksgiving break and then started adding the pictures. As I was moving around the pictures and trying to get it all straight I ended up deleting everything I wrote. I was so frustrated I left it. So now here we are a week later. I'll admit I still don't want to type everything again. So here is the condensed version.

Thursday we went to Rich and Bethany's for Thanksgiving meal. It was good.

Friday we went shopping for Rebecca's birthday. We went to the mall. We got there at about 11:00 a.m. and didn't leave until about 4:00 p.m. We met Bethany, Maddi, Jessica, Shane, and Rosalia there. Among the varied purchases we got Rebecca some stylin' boots for her birthday.

Saturday (Rebecca's Birthday) we slept in and then went to the BYU vs UofU football game. We did manage to remember to bring a camera. I should have remembered it when we went shopping because there was some great shots but alas, it was not so. Anyway, if you haven't heard by now the game went into over time. Fortunately for us, they choose the end zone we were in for the overtime face off. So we got to see up close BYU win 26 - 23. It was really exciting and I yelled my voice hoarse. After the game we all went to Chili's to eat dinner and celebrate Rebecca's birthday together. It was good. An enjoyable day and weekend overall.

Enjoy the pictures:

Hair

Taber decided that he could try and cut his hair shorter than we normally do. It's been over a year since he started growing his hair out. He thought because of this, his hair would be able to stay down. His hair is really good at sticking straight up (just check the Halloween post). Its doing a good job staying down. I just wish that she wouldn't have cut his bangs (I guess what they are, but it seems like a such a girly term to me) so short. However, the good thing about hair is, it always grows back. So, enjoy the photos.
